Housing Needs Assessments
The Colorado Division of Housing and its partners have developed a needs assessment template and revised guidelines for seeking needs assessment funding:
The Colorado Division of Housing funds housing needs assessments for Colorado communities. Needs assessments can be performed at the regional, county, and municipal levels. These assessments assist the Colorado State Housing Board, housing developers, non-profit agencies, and other organizations involved in housing production to better understand the market-rate and affordable housing needs in each community.
The Colorado Blue Ribbon Panel on Housing has concluded that housing needs assessments are essential in understanding housing markets and housing needs in Colorado. The panel has recommended that regional needs assessments be performed in each region* of the state. The Division of Housing wishes to provide financial and technical assistance to communities interested in performing and updating needs assessments.
* What defines a “region” may vary depending on the community. Contact us for more information.
